FAQ

Ordering & Shipping

Where do you ship?

Shipping is currently available within the United States.

How long will it take to ship my order?

Most orders are processed within 3 to 5 business days. Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking email so you can follow its journey to your mailbox.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders can't be changed or canceled after they're placed. They get packed quickly, so there's usually no opportunity to make changes after checkout. Give your cart one last look before placing your order.

What if my order arrives damaged or something is missing?

Please reach out within 10 days of delivery. Include your order number and photos if anything arrived damaged, and we'll do everything possible to make it right.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards are accepted, along with any additional payment options available at checkout.

Seeds

How many seeds are in each packet?

Seed count varies by variety. You'll find the exact count listed on each product page.

Are your seeds non-GMO?

Yes. All seeds are non-GMO.

Are your seeds heirloom?

Most varieties are heirloom or open-pollinated. Each product page will let you know whether a variety is heirloom, open-pollinated, or hybrid.

Do you treat your seeds with chemicals?

Unless otherwise noted, all seeds are untreated.

Do you test germination?

Yes. Every variety goes through germination testing before it reaches you.

Do you guarantee germination?

Because germination depends on things like weather, watering, planting depth, temperature, pests, and growing conditions, it can't be guaranteed in every garden. High-quality seed is just one piece of the puzzle. The rest depends on the conditions in your garden.

How long will my seeds last?

Most vegetable seeds stay viable for several years when stored properly. Keep them somewhere cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight.

Growing

I'm completely new to gardening. Where should I start?

You're exactly who Sow Chaotic was built for.

If you're not sure what to grow first, look for our Beginner Seeds collection. Those are the varieties we'd recommend to someone planting their very first garden.

What growing zone are your recommendations written for?

Grow guides are written with beginners in mind and include general planting guidance. Since planting dates vary by location, check your local planting calendar alongside the variety-specific information on each product page.

Can I grow these in containers?

Many of our varieties grow beautifully in containers, raised beds, or in-ground gardens. Product pages include growing information whenever container growing is appropriate.

Do you sell organic seeds?

If a variety is certified organic, it will be clearly identified on the product page.

Why don't you sell tomatoes?

The shop is launching with a smaller collection to focus on the varieties that give beginners the best chance of success. More varieties will continue being added over time.

About Sow Chaotic

Why is it called Sow Chaotic?

Because waiting until everything is perfect usually means never getting started.

Sow Chaotic was inspired by the idea of chaos gardening and the realization that it was possible to spend so much time trying to garden perfectly that you never actually gardened. Learn what you can, plant the seed, and figure out the rest as you grow.

Who is Sow Chaotic for?

Beginners, mostly. If you've never grown anything before, killed a plant or ten, or just want gardening to feel less intimidating and more like something a friend walked you through, you're in the right place.

Why is Sow Chaotic different from other seed companies?

This shop is built for people just starting out, not experienced growers. That shapes everything, from how the grow guides are written, to how the seed packets are designed, to how each variety that's sold is chosen. Being beginner-friendly isn't an afterthought here, it's the whole point.

Why are your seed packets different?

They're designed to do more than hold seeds.

Each packet includes beginner-friendly growing information, helpful tips, and a little personality because learning something new shouldn't feel like homework.

Do you have a physical store?

Not at the moment. Sow Chaotic is an online seed shop.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?

Not currently, but check back. This is definitely on the list for the future.

How can I contact you?

The easiest way to get in touch is through the Contact page. Most messages receive a reply within 1 to 2 business days.
